C\u00e9gep de L\u00e9vis has confirmed its place among the country’s top colleges for applied research, ranking 18th in the latest Canada\u2019s Top\u00a050 Research Colleges 2025<\/a>, ranking published by Research Infosource. After making its debut at 33rd place in 2023, the institution has now reached an important milestone in its development in applied research.<\/p><\/p>\n\n

<\/div>\n\n

This remarkable growth reflects the quality of the work carried out by its two college technology transfer centers (CCTT), the Center for Robotics and Industrial Vision (CRVI) and TransBIOTech, as well as the strength of the collaborations established with companies and partners in the field. These results confirm a strong growth dynamic.<\/p>\n\n

<\/div>\n\n

At CRVI, the focus is on developing technological solutions that directly address the challenges faced by the manufacturing and industrial sectors in order to modernize their processes. Among the projects that contributed to this recognition are the creation of a 360\u00b0 camera system for automated manhole inspection, the automation of production cells in sectors where operations are still performed manually, and the robotization of broccoli harvesting in agricultural settings. These achievements transform concrete needs into innovative solutions with high added value. \n \n<\/p>\n\n

<\/div>\n\n

For its part, TransBIOTech works closely with companies in Quebec and across Canada. Among the projects that contributed to this recognition are the development of new therapeutic approaches to various cancers, obesity, and certain neurodegenerative diseases, as well as the validation of the efficacy and safety of cosmetic products formulated from plant or berry extracts.<\/p>\n\n

In the small tier<\/em> category, the 2025 report ranks C\u00e9gep de L\u00e9vis among Canada’s leaders in applied research:<\/p><\/p>\n\n

  • 2nd<\/strong> in Canada for the proportion of income derived from industry (46.6%)<\/p><\/li>\n\n\n\n

  • 3rd<\/strong> for total research income growth (+71.5%)<\/p><\/li>\n\n\n\n

  • 3rd<\/strong> for industrial research revenue ($3.145 million)<\/p><\/li>\n\n\n\n

  • 3rd<\/strong> for growth in industrial research revenue (+164.5%)<\/p><\/li>\n\n\n\n

  • 5th<\/strong> for total research income ($6.742 million)<\/p><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n

    These results demonstrate the strength of the network between businesses, the CEGEP, and its research centers, as well as the value of innovations resulting from applied research.<\/p>\n\n

    About C\u00e9gep de L\u00e9vis<\/p><\/p>\n\n

    Each year, more than 3,000 young people choose one of the 35 pre-university and technical programs and profiles offered at C\u00e9gep de L\u00e9vis. Among them, 300 athletes are part of the Faucons, a large family bringing together members of 14 sports teams. In addition, many adults, whether employed or not, turn to Continuing Education and Business Services to return to school or quickly upgrade their skills by taking professional development courses. \n \n<\/p>\n\n

    The Centre de robotique et de vision industrielles (CRVI) is a college-level technology transfer center (CCTT) specializing in automation, robotics, industrial vision, and applied artificial intelligence.
